Privacy Policy

Preamble collects no personal data at all. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party code of any kind in the app.

What the app stores, and where

Preamble saves two things, both in ordinary files inside the app's own container on your device:

Your study progress — which questions you have answered, whether you marked yourself right or wrong, and the results of your mock interviews.
The answers you record yourself — your state or territory, the date you filed Form N-400, whether you qualify for the 65/20 special consideration, and what you wrote for the questions that have no fixed answer (your senators, your representative, your governor, your state capital and the current officeholders).

None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to us, because there is no "us" to back it up to — Preamble has no server. It is included in your device's own iCloud or computer backup if you have one enabled, in the same way as any other app's data, and that backup is between you and Apple.

Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Network access

The app makes no network requests of its own. It works completely in airplane mode.

There are exactly two exceptions, both of which you initiate:

The App Store, when you buy Full Prep or restore a purchase. That transaction is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We never see your Apple Account, your name or your payment details — the app only ever learns whether the purchase is entitled to this device.
Links you tap, such as the USCIS test-updates page or the Senate and House directories. Those open in Safari, outside the app. Once you are there, the privacy policy of that website applies.

What we do not do

We do not collect, store or transmit any personal information.
We do not use analytics, attribution, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.
We do not track you across apps or websites.
We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not have any.
We do not ask for your immigration status, your A-number, your case number, or any detail of your application — and the app has no field in which to enter them.

The App Store privacy label for Preamble reads Data Not Collected. That is a literal description of the app, not a summary.

Children

Preamble is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to access, export or delete on our side. The data on your device is entirely under your control: Settings inside the app erases your progress, and deleting the app erases everything.

Changes

If a future version of Preamble ever collected anything, this page would be updated before that version shipped, and the change would be described in the App Store release notes.
